ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: E&P companies are continually swimming in a sea of technical data chaos. No matter how many initiatives are made to calm the waters with "data clean up" and making the data "conform" to corporate standards, new asset acquisitions, prospect audits, data room packages, etc. create new squalls to weather. Often new incoming data (or event restored "old" legacy data) have serious time pressure on them to get them to a decision ready state in a workstation and/or corporate database. Determining comprehensively what data is available, what formats it's in and where it is, are the first essential steps in the workflow from Data to Decision This PRACTICAL workshop will explore various Data to Decision workflows to illustrate the key parameters that effect the speed of process and integrity of output. Using real life examples, the workshop will be centred around examples of real "chaotic" data sets, distributed in a combination of hardcopy, spreadsheets and text files, images, DVDs, File Servers, several relational databases, EDMS system, ESRI ArchGIS, Oracle Spatial data, and E&P workstations. This workshop is a natural extension of E&P Information and Data Management topics discussed in the seminar and workshops. It covers the practical aspects of: - Searching
- Mining
- Creating quick metadata catalogues
- Mashing spatial data in several GIS/Spatial data sources
- Integration legacy workstation data
- Visualising
- Creating and utilising WEB portals
- Knowledge capture and transfer
Who should attend?: Information management professionals (data management, document managements, geomatics/GIS, knowledge management, process management), Information Systems/Technology professionals and all those with an interest in how to improve the information and data management capabilities About the workshop leader: Waclaw Jakubowicz, Managing Director, Hampton Data Services Waclaw set up Hampton Data Services to promote the development of cutting edge data management solutions and services. He has been involved in the capture and migration of a wide range of Petrotechnical archives in the UK, Middle East, FSU and North Africa. After graduating from Imperial with a degree in Geology and an MSc in geophysics, he worked in acquisition, processing and data interpretation first at Schlumberger and then as an independent consultant. His experience has given him knowledge of the full data spectrum from data acquisition to knowledge creation. Waclaw has been involved in many large and small scale projects ranging from small start up companies to national oil companies ’s and the majors.
