Negotiating Nuclear New Build Contracts (2010)

Overview of the class:

The main goal of the class will be to summarize the findings during to two days' conference and to provide a broader overview of the developments in the nuclear industry as a whole. The scope of the review will consider the development of successful nuclear projects from start to finish and further to operation and maintenance. Kostadin in planning to lead the discussions and to outline some of the principles in the structuring and the negotiations of nuclear contracts.

This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to discuss the legal and regulatory aspects of the nuclear projects, as well as plenty of practical examples from the recent years of nuclear developments. The workshop will focus on every issue the participants want to raise and will be suitable for representatives of the clients, nuclear technology providers, governmental bodies, financial institutions and engineering companies. The class provides a good opportunity for broadening your vision for the nuclear industry.

About your workshop leader:

Kostadin Sirleshtov is a Partner at CMS Cameron McKenna and leads the Energy, Projects and Construction team of the firm in Sofia, Bulgaria. He is a Bulgarian qualified lawyer, holding a diploma in EU and UK law from the Cambridge University. Kostadin has specialized utility and PPP law in Italy, UK, Austria and the USA. Before joining CMS in 2006, Kostadin worked for the Minister of energy and energy resources of Bulgaria and was part of the working group for the preparation of the current Bulgarian Nuclear Law and the Energy Act. He was part of the team contributing to the structuring of the second Bulgarian nuclear project "Belene" in the period 2002-2004. As part of CMS Cameron McKenna, Kostadin led the team advising ENEL on the acquisition of 49% of the "Belene" NPP project with project value exceeding 8 billion EUR. CMS Sofia team also advised Iberdrola for their decommissioning project for Units 1-4 of Kozloduy NPP. Kostadin Sirleshtov represents Toshiba/Westinghouse and has deep understanding of their leading AP 1000 technology. He is among the few lawyers who have worked successfully with the three leading nuclear technologies VVER (Russia), AP 1000 (USA) and Candu (Canada).
