Overview:
The workshop will provide a techno-economic overview of prominent Gas Utilisation technologies with a focus on next-generation technologies. Beginning with the fundamentals of established technologies such as onshore LNG and GTL, participants will gain insights on novel gas utilisation technologies such as floating LNG and GTL technologies for use in offshore gas utilisation, DME, hydrates, etc. The relative technical strengths and weaknesses of the technologies will be discussed
The workshop will also emphasise the relative economics of competing gas utilisation technologies across the value chain in order to give participants an appreciation of important cost considerations during the major phases of project development. Additionally, there will be a discussion on safety, risk, and environmental considerations, and in particular, greenhouse gas concerns.
The workshop will wrap up with a discussion of prominent case studies in order to illustrate some of the concepts in the workshop.
Benefits of attending:
Workshop participants will benefit from an independent technology-neutral assessment of gas utilisation technologies and their economic and environmental concerns. The workshop will be interactive, and will offer participants an opportunity to network with other stakeholders in the gas utilisation industry.

Dr. Praveen Gunaseelan has 12 years of broad experience in the energy and process industries that includes process modeling and optimization, plant operations, business development, and marketing in the oil & gas, chemicals, and energy sectors. Dr. Gunaseelan specializes in applying engineering expertise and market knowledge to conduct techno-economic analyses for industry clients, with a focus on project feasibility studies, technology assessments, product marketing and distribution, technology commercialization, and advanced process modeling. Dr. Gunaseelan has worked as a market analyst in the Tonnage Gases, Equipment & Energy Division at Air Products & Chemicals, Inc.
Dr. Gunaseelan has performed techno-economic feasibility studies and market assessments across various industrial sectors, such as: crude oil refining/upgrading; upstream oil & gas; remote/flared gas monetization (e.g. GTL, LNG); chemicals manufacturing, conventional and renewable power; and alternative fuels and chemicals. His client engagements have ranged from performing economic and safety assessments of refinery projects; assessing technologies for converting coal, biomass, and natural gas into liquid fuels and chemicals; developing strategies for the distribution and marketing of gases, refined fuels and chemicals; to providing engineering expertise on disputes involving FPSO construction. Dr. Gunaseelan has assessed carbon capture and storage technologies (CCS) and has studied the viability of developing regional CO2 capture, compression, and transportation infrastructure for enhanced oil recovery (EOR). He has a particular interest in environmentally clean and sustainable technologies, having advised clients on projects involving carbon mitigation, biomass gasification, syngas and hydrogen purification, and biofuels separation.
