help and info - product navigation

This page describes how to to navigate to a particular product type within the SMi Online site, the aim being to assist you in finding the product your are looking for quickly and efficiently. If you have any comments that you think should be included here, or have any queries regarding the site then please feel free to let us know at support@smi-online.co.uk

 Product Browser top of page

The product browser can be found at the top of each sector listing for Events, Event Media and Management Reports.

The product browser is very simple to use, just select the industry sector and sub sector related to the product that you are looking for and press the submit button to the right.
 Product Search top of page

The Keyword product search facility can also be found at the top of every page in the site:

The product search is easy to use, just enter a keyword (or keywords) relating to the product you wish to find and press the submit button to the right. The search will be performed across all products and you will be presented with a list of products that contain words similar to your keywords.

Once you have performed the initial search you will notice that the a new search form is displayed:

This new search form allows you to further refine your search according to different criteria:

  • Industry Sector: This allows you to confine the search to a particular sector.
  • Product Type: This allows you to confine the search to a particular product type.
  • Date Range: This allows you to confine the search to a particular date range - for events and event media this relates to the start date of the event, for reports/newsletters this related to the publication date.
  • Sort By: This allows you to sort the results in different ways - so you could sort the results alphabetically, or in reverse date order and so on.

Note that the search uses 'loose phrase' pattern matching to perform the search - so if you performed a search for the word 'car' then the search would return any product that contained those three letters in that particular order, whether they appeared at the start of a word, in the middle or at the end. For example 'car' would find any product that contained the words 'car', 'cars', 'carriage', 'nascar', 'scars' and so on.
