Continuing Airworthiness in the Military Domain

What is this event about?

This unique workshop, hosted by Baines Simmons Limited, is designed to provide the delegate with an understanding of the UK Ministry of Defence Maintenance Approved Organisation Scheme (MAOS). It also previews and discusses the upcoming changes to the military requirements concerning continuing airworthiness in the military domain both in the UK and across Europe

Doug provides airworthiness, regulations and safety management consulting and training services to our broad range of global National and Military Aviation Authority clients, he offers an in depth knowledge of the aviation business gained from over 40 years experience in the industry. He is a committed and professional aviation enthusiast, with both civil and military experience, who passionately pursues the best safety focussed outcomes in his work, whilst ensuring clients’ needs are met.

Expertise and capability

• Delivers strategic, management and technical expertise to Regulatory Authorities through consultancy programmes.
• Consults and advises civil and military regulatory bodies regarding airworthiness standards, processes and interpretation of European and UK CAA regulations.
• Consultancy thought-leadership and training delivery to client executive management.
• Consults and advises in the leadership, development and embedding of safety cultures into organisations airworthiness and safety programmes.

Prior to joining Baines Simmons, Doug held the position of UK CAA Regional Office Manager (Survey). He was initially Royal Air Force trained. Subsequently, Doug became a UK CAA Part 66 A/B1/C Licensed Aircraft Engineer and worked for a number of UK based airlines as well as extensively overseas, gaining management experience in maintenance production and Quality Assurance. Doug has had a very broad spectrum of aviation experience, particularly fixed/rotary wing operations, and aircraft and component maintenance. He was the CAA Survey Lead in the oversight and maintenance arrangements for the restoration, successful return to flight, and continued operation of the first UK ex-military complex Permit to Fly aircraft, G-VLCN (Vulcan).
